2026 MAZDA CX-30 vs Subaru Crosstrek

 

The 2026 Mazda CX-30 holds its own against strong competition in the subcompact SUV class—and the Subaru Crosstrek is one of the most common alternatives you will find. Sentry West Mazda compares both vehicles across three areas where the difference matters most. 

A Turbo Option the Subaru Crosstrek Cannot Match 

The new Mazda model starts at 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque from a 2.5-liter four-cylinder. That’s already ahead of the 2026 Subaru Crosstrek at 180 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. Step up to the Mazda CX-30 2.5 Turbo and the advantage grows: 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque when using premium fuel, with a new-for-2026 brake Limited Slip Differential and G-Vectoring Control Plus® for composed handling under power. The Subaru Crosstrek does not offer a comparable powertrain. 

Safety That Layers as You Move Up the Lineup 

The 2026 Mazda CX-30 puts i-Activsense® on every trim, with standard features including: 

  • Mazda Radar Cruise Control™ with Stop and Go  
  • Smart Brake Support  
  • Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist  
  • Blind Spot Monitoring  
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert 

Higher trims also add front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree View Monitor, and Active Driving Display® with Traffic Sign Recognition. The 2026 Subaru Crosstrek includes EyeSight® with Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control and Automatic Emergency Steering across all trims, but doesn’t offer the 360-degree View Monitor or Active Driving Display® the Mazda CX-30 brings at mid-level trims. 

A Cabin with a Noticeably Higher Standard 

The Mazda CX-30 S Select Sport and higher trims include an eight-way power driver's seat with lumbar and two-position memory, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry before the top of the lineup. When you reach the 2.5 S Carbon Edition trim, you’ll also receive a Bose® 12-speaker audio system. Though the 2026 Subaru Crosstrek offers some of the same technology, the interior finish and Bose® system in the Mazda SUV set a more refined bar.
